Sustainable Development Goals – United Nations
A new global social contract that leaves no one behind

On 25 September 2015, 193 countries came together and committed to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the year 2030. These goals are an opportunity for countries and their societies to embark on a new path to improve the lives of all.

Andalusia promotes greater action on the part of the population to make it possible to meet the new 2030 horizon and that is why we want to highlight some initiatives and contributions in Andalusia in relation to these goals.

Multiple Andalusian entities and organisations are committed to the goals and due to the diversity of collaborating entities, each one focuses on specific objectives.

We would like to highlight the work of the Inter-University Institute for Research in Data Science and Computational Intelligence (DaSCI) of the University of Granada and the University of Jaén. They are gathering information about how Artificial Intelligence and other digital technologies can favour the development of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Likewise, the Granada Chamber of Commerce is committed to sustainability, efficient use of resources, promoting the local economy and culture, supporting employee entrepreneurship and measuring the carbon footprint of companies, among others.

We highlight the #aliadosdelosODS campaign. The Spanish Global Compact Network has launched this campaign to achieve a multiplier effect and raise awareness of the 2030 Agenda and more than 1,500 entities have signed up to act as a loudspeaker.

From AIFED, we want to give visibility to companies and the great work they do. The United Nations has declared: "Private entrepreneurship, investment and innovation are major drivers of productivity, inclusive economic growth and job creation ... We call on all businesses to use innovation and creativity to solve problems related to sustainable development".

Talking about SDG from ReFal Andalusia

The Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between cultures is an organization network of civil society focused on promoting intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean area. Among their lines of work, there is the promotion of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) proposed by the United Nations Organization (UNO), for which it was established a 15 years term (until 2030) for the establishment and achievement globally.

AIFED as the coordinator entity, along Azarquiel (Seville), Sevilla Acoge (Seville), Juvenil Inter (Cadiz) e Incide (Malaga) organizations, have decided to develop a dissemination and spreading Project based on the next SDG:

  1. Ending the poverty (SDG 1)
  2. Gender equality (SDG 5)
  3. Reduction of inequality (SDG 10)

This project is framed in the “Intercultural Projects of ReFal” call and it has the goal of:

  • Making known the Sustainable Development Goals that have been chosen, relating their single goals with intercultural value.

As a secondary goal they would include:

  • To increase positively the value of intercultural in every area.
  • To contribute to improve the intercultural relationships, intra and extra Andalusia, making the work of the Anna Lindh Foundation and the ReFal known to the people.

The tools and procedure that it would be used to achieve the goals will be:

  • Massive use of Social Media: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok in order to be present in each social network and to reach as much people as we can because each one has their own user profile and age rank.
  • To make and spread interviews.
  • Redaction of articles.
  • All of these means will be related with the Intercultural Tendencies of the Mediterranean Area’s Report of 2018.

Beneficiaries will be 10.000 people divided in:

  • Intercultural collectives and groups of people from different cultures.
  • Women, who we will be provide a special support.
  • Young people, who spend lots of their time on social media and should change social stereotypes.
  • Global citizens.
  • Participant entities which network will be seen reinforced.

First meeting of the project “Talking about SDGs from ReFal Andalucía” #refalinterculturalidad

In the first meeting of the project "Talking about SDGs from ReFal Andalucía", the working method during the project was discussed, as well as the Buffer platform.

The Buffer platform is an online application that allows you to plan and personalize all your posts for social networks, in this way, you can determine when they will be published more comfortably and easily.

The project work plan was easy and summarized as follows.

  • Each association would upload a publication to social networks on different days of the week and on the subject they wanted as long as reference was made to one of the three SDGs that were proposed as base themes: SDG 1, SDG 5, SDG 10.
  • The associations would generate original audiovisual and multimedia content and for social networks and also use the hagstags that best represent the publication, in addition to always adding #refalinterculturalidad.
  • Social networks should be bombarded with all the information available about ODS and how it is acting in Spain and the region of Andalusia.

A mid-term update meeting was proposed for May 21, 2021.
