Project: I. We. Society.

EC Project Number 2020-1-LV01-KA227-ADU-094488
The COVID-19 pandemic is shaking the society. Each major sector of society must contribute, whether through caring for and supporting those infected, stopping the spread of the virus or ensuring the supply of essential goods and services to cloistered families.
Much is demanded also of the education sector. Adult learning and education is needed in preparation and as a response to any crisis. COVID-19 is just another point in history that stresses the importance of non-formal adult learning and education (ALE) to equip people with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to cope with crisis as responsible citizens.
The objectives of the project are:
- Research the methods of promoting adult education after Covid-19 in the project partner countries
- Provide help to different groups of society, including the so called vulnerable groups
- Create 6 digital on-line training courses. The program titles can be changed or edited following the analysis of the training needs and interests during the implementation period.
The adult education sectors chosen are:
- Young parents
- Re-immigrating people
- Recently retired people
- People with different disabilities
- Temporary unemployed people affected by Covid-19 pandemics
- Small business owners suffering from different problems, including Covid-19 consequences.

TO REMOVE BARRIERS

In the framework of the I.WE.SOCIETY project, the consortium is working on the development of 6 online training courses. AIFED is working on the development of content focused on people with disabilities.
We leave you a small insight after the work done so far.
There are different opinions about people with disablities ad the definition of disablity.
The people have some confusions when they talk about it and the problem is not only about the name and the definition but is conceptual. There was a need to define a new conceptual diagram that would alow a real coherence between people’s opnions the image we have of them and our attitudes towards them.
We feel it is vital to start by making visible the difference between disability, impairment and handicap. The three concepts are closely related, when illess or impairment occurs, it affects an individual’s health status and autonomy.
For many years, the role of the disabled person was seen as beeing unable to be independent, providing them protection, charity ad assitance. This implied an increased dependence of the disabled person on the environment. It has been shown that it is largely the environmet that determines the effect of impairment or dissability which affects not only the person but the environment itself. It must be accepted that it is a social responsability to identify and remove barriers to facilitate full participation, not only by removing attitudinal and physical barriers, but also by developing ad engaging in programmes that enable the reintegration of persons with disabilities into society. The inclusion of persons with disabilities in daily activities implies practices ad polices aimed at identifying and removing barriers, such as physical, communication and attitudinal barriers, that hinder the ability of individuals to participate fully in society,as do persons without disabilities.
We have completed the online platform with e-learning courses to help adult educators and people from the following groups, in these complicated Post-Covid times.
Each target group of the project has their own needs where the created course can help them deal with the current situation:
- young parents may need advice how to deal with different problems in the society when a child is born
- re-immigrating people have to adjust to the new situation in the native country
- recently retired people have to be helped feel still active and needed in the society
- people with different disabilities will find online course easily accessible
- temporary unemployed people affected by Covid-19 pandemics will benefit from the course as it will include practical advice for finding a new job
- small business owners will get practical help on how to decrease the existing problems.
